DON’T FORGET!!! — The Freshman class is hosting a Pancake Supper on Friday, January 31st from 5-7 p.m. at the High School Cafeteria. Tickets are $8 ($10 at the door) and can be purchased from any FHS freshman. Take-out is available with basic meal. Funds raised from this event will be used in the future for the Junior/Senior prom.

Filing open for May 2 general election
Candidate filing opened on Wednesday, January 15th for positions on the Friona Independent School District Board of Trustees, Friona City Council, and Parmer County Hospital District Board of Directors. The filing period ends on Friday, February 14th.

Friona Youth Sports starts second year
Friona Youth Sports kicked off its 2nd year with the Annual Basketball “Tip-Off” and Skills Camp last Saturday. 146 students signed up for the basketball season. Kinder is the only co-ed division with 24 players and 4 teams. 1/2/3 grade girls have 28 players and 4 teams. 1/2/3 grade boys have 45 players and 6 teams. 4/5/6 grade girls have 22 players and 3 teams. 4/5/6 grade boys have 27 players and 4 teams. There are 146 total kids and 21 teams. Games will be on Saturdays starting February 22nd and running through March 14th. All games will be played at the Friona High School Activity Center and Gym and the community is welcome to come out and watch the games. There is no game entry fee. (more...)
Commissioners approve road closure
The Parmer County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the County Courtroom of the Parmer County Courthouse in Farwell, Texas. The meeting began with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag.
