Spelling bee champion has local ties
Isaac Elliott was the winner of a district-wide spelling bee held on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Forty-six students from all over the Corpus Christi Independent School District battled word for word at Veterans Memorial High School and after an intense spell-off, Isaac, an eighth-grader from Baker Middle School, took home the victory. Issac will advance to compete on national TV, in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland at the end of May.
Isaac is the son of Hanna Elliott Patton & Larry Patton, and the late Lee Elliott. He is the grandson of Leesa & Steve Stephens and Evelyn Elliott all of Copus Christi. He is the great-grandson of Tommie Mercer and the late Billy Joe Mercer.
