Julie M. Salinas
Julie M. Salinas, 70 of Bovina passed away September 24, 2019 in Amarillo. Viewing was from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family visitation from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Friday, September 27, 2019 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Celebration of Life Services were scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Bovina with Rev. Brian Mullins of Pampa officiating. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Julia was born February 9, 1949 in Mathis, Texas to Santos and Maria Flores Madrigal. She later married Wale Salinas June 17, 1967 in Bovina.
Julia loved spending time with her family, playing games and fishing. She enjoyed watching her novelas on TV and chatting with everyone. She always wanted to know the lastest by asking everyone, “What’s news?”
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son-Lupe Salinas, 5 brothers-Pascuala Madrigal, Donicio Madrigal, Estevan Madrigal, Costodios Madrigal, and Francisco Madrigal, 1 sister-Dominga Sepeda.
Those to carry on her legacy include: 1 daughter-Deanna Curtis and husband David of Bovina, 1 daughter-in-law- Viola Shipman of Amarillo, 1 sister-Jovita Sepeda of Texico, 3 grandchildren-Jeremy Curtis, Justin Curtis and Kyla Salinas Saenz, 2 great-grandchildren-Aria Saenz and Everly Saenz.
Ann Cobb Barker
Ann Cobb Barker 94 longtime Friona resident passed away September 25, 2019 in Friona. Celebration of Life Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 28, 2019 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Brett Hoyle and Mike Hankins, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetry by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Ann was born June 3, 1925 in Leonard, Texas to Giles and Opal M. Graves Cobb. She later married Fred Barker Jr. February 1943 at Ft. Sumner.
Ann was the Valedictorian of the Friona High School class of 1942, and was the Friona Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Most Courteous Employee in 1980. She also served for many years as a Cub Scout den mother.
Ann was a very frugal person and handmade many of her children’s clothing. She also loved to crochet and quilt. She was respected as a very intelligent, Christian woman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister-Nancy Williams, 3 brothers-David Cobb, Bill Cobb and Tom Cobb, 1 great-granddaughter-Brooke Hankins.
Those to carry on her legacy include 1 daughter-Pat Blackburn and husband Keith of Friona, 3 sons-Butch Barker and wife Martha of Friona, Eddie Barker and wife Kim of Cooksville, Texas, and John Barker and wife Vickie of Sonora, Texas, 1 sister-Patsy Greer of Amarillo, 1 brother-Jay Cobb of Seattle, Washington, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
