Josiah Rejino (#15) hauls in a pass from Jose Grado on a critical 4th down play late in the 4th quarter of last week’s game against Dalhart. The pass play resulted in a first down and Friona eventually scored a touchdown and won the game 39-35 to remain unbeaten.

The Friona Band Boosters will host a Brisket Dinner fundraiser on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Junior High Cafeteria. Tickets are $13 per plate and can be purchased from any Band member. Proceeds will benefit the Friona Chieftain Marching Band.

Chiefs win thriller, move to 5-0
The game had everything. Good plays, trick plays, and bad plays. Great individual effort and not so great penalties. Quality officiating and — you get the idea. It felt like a playoff game but it wasn’t. It felt like a district game, but it wasn’t. It was simply a hard-fought, exciting, never-say-die, exciting regular season game with Friona outlasting Dalhart 39-35.

Panhandle Regional Planning Commission celebrates 50 years
Mrs. Barnett’s classroom kitchens are open because of generous donations. As the beginning of the school year began, Mrs. Barnett noticed that her culinary class size had quadrupled in size from last year. The anticipation of more students was exciting but meant that 1 fully stocked kitchen would not suffice this year, she would need all 5 kitchens ready to go. Through the support of school co-workers, anonymous donors, and the Friona Vocational Agriculture Organization, Mrs. Barnett’s classroom kitchens are now fully functional.
