Anita Soliz Alonzo
Anita Solis Alonzo, 92, longtime Bovina resident passed away July 21, 2018 in Amarillo. Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina with Mass of Christian Burial Services scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Nestor Lara as Celebrant. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Anita was born May 14, 1926 in Yorktown, Texas to Santiago and Manuela Peña Solis. She later married Bernabe Alonzo Sr.
Anita had been a resident of Bovina since 1954 and was a very active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas. She loved WWF Pro Wrestling, dominoes, gardening, and her favorite football team was The Arizona Cardinals.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons-Bernabe S. Alonzo Jr, and Saragosa Solis Alonzo, 2 sisters-Josefina Saenz and Victoria Garcia, 1 brother-Ruben Solis, and a step-mom-Dominga Solis.
Those to carry on her legacy include 4 sons-Rene Alonzo and Debbie Turner of Mabank, Texas, Roy Alonzo and wife JoAnne of Pleasanton, Texas, Edward Alonzo of Benbrook, Oregon, and Alfred, Alonzo of Bovina, 2 daughters-Josefina Alonzo-Coffey of Bovina and Teresita Serna and husband Antonio of Bovina, 2 brothers-Jimmy Solis, Juan Solis and 1 sister-Elena Solis-Saenz-all of Cuero, 10 grandchildren and 3-great-grandchildren.
