Rudolph Donavon (Don) Murphy

Rudolph Donavon (Don) Murphy, 89, of Clyde died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at an Abilene hospice facility. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation with the family will be after the service in the fellowship hall.

Don was born January 31, 1929 in Runnels County to Elvin and Mattie Ellen (Carter) Murphy. He was a graduate of Ballinger High School and later married Juanda Patton in Ballinger on October 10, 1948. He farmed in Bovina from 1955 until 2000. He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Bovina and a former school board member. After retiring from farming, he worked for the Texas Baptist Men’s Builders and later moved to Clyde in 2012 where he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde and also a member of the Who So Ever Will Class.

He is survived by his son Rodney Murphy and wife Suzanne of Abilene; daughter Darlene Foster and husband Buddy of Midlothian; sister Jean Byers of Abilene; six grandchildren, Brandon Caldwell, Rebecca Caldwell, Adam Murphy and wife Jami, Kip Murphy and wife Kristin, Michelle Shover and husband Dean and Michael Foster and wife Nikki and 14 great grandchildren, Jayce, Kennedy, Grace, Kinsley, Carter, Zane, Emily, Lucas, Zachary, Zeke, Mackenzie, Landon, Luke and Grant.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Juanda in 2014, his parents, one brother, two sons, Lynn and David Murphy and a grandson Chris Caldwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Texas Baptist Men’s Builders or Hendrick Hospice Care.

Santiago Ancira, Jr.

Santiago Ancira, Jr., 43, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 in Carlsbad, NM. Services were held March 23, 2018 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Santiago “Jim” Ancira was born May 5, 1974 in Friona, Texas to Santiago Ancira, Sr. and Nora Rose. He is survived by one son, Marcus Anthony Ancira, and one daughter, Sydni Sky Ancira of Albuquerque, NM and 2 grandchildren.

Jim is also survived by his parents: father, Santiago Ancira of Carlsbad, NM, mother, Nora Rose and father Linvell Rose of Friona, Texas; sisters: Dolores Ancira of Columbia, South Carolina, Stefanie Ancira of Carlsbad, NM, Monica Dixon of Clovis, NM, Roxanne Ancira Dixon of Clovis, NM. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Gauna, Cleo Gauna, Bacillo Ancira, Sr. and Dolores Ancira.

Nicolas Lopez

Nicolas Nicolas Lopez, 24 of Friona passed away March 17, 2018 near the Oklahoma Lane Community. Rosary Services have been scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona with Mass of Christian Burial Services 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Teresa’s Catholic church with Father Henry Wilson Echavarria Rodriguez as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by Hansard Family Funeral Home of Friona.

Nicolas was born January 2, 1994 in Guatemala to Armando Nicolas Sebastian and Eulalia Lopez Diego. He was a dairy worker that loved to spend time with his family.

Those to carry on the legacy include his wife-Catalina Elizabeth Sebastian, 2 daughters-Maria Elizabeth Nicolas Nicolas and Katy Rosalinda Nicolas Nicolas, all of Friona, his parents, 1 brother-Andrez Nicolas Lopez, grandfather-Andrez Lopez and Grandmother-Maria Pedro Diego, all of Guatemala.

Juanita Hastings

Juanita Hastings, 98, of Bovina passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 in Bovina. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Bovina United Methodist Church in Bovina with Weldon Heath Wright of Tulsa and Rev. Larry Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by Hansard Family Funeral Home of Friona.

Juanita was born November 1, 1919 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Milton Mercer and Sarah Stafford Wright. She later married Donald Dean Hastings February 4, 1944 in Waynoka.

She worked as a licensed beautician in Waynoka and later when they moved to Bovina. For many years she volunteered to fix hair for the residents of Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona. She was chairperson for the Bovina Blood Drive for many years and was a member of the Bovina Methodist Church where she was a part of the Methodist Women and was known for helping that organization in making quilts and giving them to children’s homes. Juanita and Dean were honored with the Bovina Chamber of Commerce Heritage Award . But, the love of her life was her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers-Frank, Bud and Jimmy Wright, and 3 sisters-Corabell Morgan, Rosetta Kidder, and Ruth Merideth, along with 1 grandson-Christopher McMeans.

Those to carry on the legacy include- 2 daughters-LaJuana Renfro and husband David, and Carol Jean Wright and husband Jerry of Hudson Oaks, Texas, 1 sister-in-law-June Wright of Blanchard, 3 grandchildren-Lisa Redman of Merkel, Texas, Heath Wright of Tulsa, and J.J. Cawelti of Keller, Texas, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
