Chieftain Brayden Pope (45) shoots a baseline layup over the Shallowater Mustangs Tuesday evening. The Mustangs won 51-41. The Chiefs, Littlefield, and Muleshoe tied for 3rd place in district. A meeting was held Wednesday morning in Littlefield to determine playoff seeding for 3rd and 4th place. The Chiefs will play Littlefield Thursday February 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Dimmitt. The winner of that game will play Muleshoe Friday February 20 at 4:00 p.m. in Dimmitt. A third game will be played Saturday February 21 at 4:00 p.m. in Dimmitt to determine 3rd and 4th place seeding.

We are getting spoiled by the warm days and forget there is still a bunch of winter to go. Had snow on the grass Tuesday. Spring begins March 20. In three weeks, on March 8, Daylight Saving Time begins. We will spring forward an hour and stay there until the first Sunday in November which is November 1.

Senior class steak dinner Apr. 12
Steak is what's for dinner as the Friona High School Senior Class of 2015 will hold their annual Steak Dinner on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Friona Junior High School Cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the alcohol/drug free all-night graduation celebration.

Donkey basketball coming to Friona
The Friona FFA will be hosting a wild and crazy Dairyland Donkey Basketball Show on Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at the Friona High School gym. It’s basketball played on real, live donkeys and it will be wilder than a rodeo and funnier than a circus. Advance tickets are $6.00 and available at the FHS Ag Shop. At the door tickets will be $8.00, preschoolers are free of charge.
