We observed the 74th anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor on Monday. A 94-year-pld veteran who was present during the attack was interviewed on TV Monday. He had a Japanese flag framed that he took from one of the Japanese planes that was shot down that day. During my travel agent career I visited Hawaii many times, including the Arizona Memorial. You can stand on the memorial and look down and see the USS Arizona where it sank. It is quite the experience.

She has a Facebook page you can place an order on. Search Sandra Berend and 'like' her page. Or I guess you could just call her.

My brother Rick, Clint Mears, our friend Rick Castenada of Hereford, and I went to Amarillo Saturday for the Canadian vs. Stratford playoff game at Dick Bivins stadium. We loaded up with coats and gloves but didn't need them as the day was sunny and about 60 degrees. Brother Rick is a salesman for Becknell and has friends and clients in both Stratford and Canadian. We mainly wanted to see Canadian play on their way to a second state championship. Canadian won 31-0 so it wasn't a real exciting game.
Afterwards we stopped off at Green Chile Willy's Restaurant on I-27 to try the chicken fried steak voted Best in Amarillo. Willy's is a lively noisy place in a not-so-good location but we enjoyed it once we finally got there. P.S. The chicken fried steak was good but not the best I have ever had. I like the one at Feldman's in Canyon better.

Monday was the deadline for Santa letters from the schools and we have a bunch of them. Dana has been typing them today (and probably tomorrow). They will be printed in our big Christmas paper next week. Thanks to the teachers and staff at the primary and elementary for assisting in collecting them.

Christmas in the Park was fun Monday night. Lots of kids got to see Santa, some were not too happy about it. Since not many little kids read Town Talk I guess I can safely reveal that Santa was Danny Allen from the Rhea community. Several people asked me about it. He did a great job for an endless line of children. Thanks to the Methodist youth choir and the FHS choir for the carols and Clint Mears of Intheden Graphics for the sound system.

The tree sponsors in the park are Cargill (gazebo), FHS National English Honor Society, Parmer Medical Center, Friona Interbank (Depot), Bi-Wize, Andy Alexander family, FHS student council, Methodist Church, and Friona junior high. Enjoy the lights and Merry Christmas.
