Santa arrived in West Texas-style aboard the "Little Ole Train" driven by Larry Rector during the Christmas in the Park celebration on Monday evening. Santa was accompanied by Little Miss Friona Amberly Madrid and Miss Friona Taylor Stallings. Those attending the celebration were treated to cotton candy, hot chocolate, kettle corn, tamales and many other delicious offerings from the vendors.

We observed the 74th anniversary of the attack at Pearl Harbor on Monday. A 94-year-pld veteran who was present during the attack was interviewed on TV Monday. He had a Japanese flag framed that he took from one of the Japanese planes that was shot down that day. During my travel agent career I visited Hawaii many times, including the Arizona Memorial. You can stand on the memorial and look down and see the USS Arizona where it sank. It is quite the experience.

City Council to consider unauthorized signs
The Friona city council will meet in regular session Monday December 14 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 619 Main St. All council meetings are open to the public.
