Parade entries, runners needed
The Friona Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture needs you! They are looking for more participants for the parades on the July 4th.
There are two parades planned. The first will be at 9 a.m. on 10th Street. Decorate your bicycles, four-wheelers, wagons, etc. and show your patriotism.
The second parade will begin lining up at 3:30 p.m. in front of Prairie Acres. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. and proceed down 15th Street to Reeve Lake.
The Chamber also needs runners for the 5K, which will begin at 7 a.m. at Reeve Lake picnic area. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will win Friona Bucks. Recreational walkers are encouraged to come and join the fun while supporting the Parmer County Cancer Coalition.
There will be handicap parking available on the south side of the park. Permits will be required to enter the parking area. Assistants will be on hand to help with the parking.
Vendors will be at Reeve Lake starting at 5 p.m. A spectacular fireworks display will begin at dusk. Every one is invited to come on out and enjoy the hometown festivities.
