This Maize Days, we will be reintroducing a high school class competition by launching the inaugural High School Class Bed Race! The Friona Chamber of Commerce has purchased 4 beds for each high school class to use in the competition. The race will take place at the conclusion of the parade.” (more...)

Carly Drake is crowned 2019 Miss Friona

The 63rd Annual Maize Days “Fiesta Friona” Celebration began Saturday night as twelve young ladies took to the stage at the Friona High School auditorium to compete for the title of Miss Friona. Poise, elegance, talent, and communication skills were all part of the mix. Earlier in the day, the contestants had a luncheon and interviews with the judges. The main extravaganza, however, was in the auditorium where friends and family cheered on their favorite contestants as Emcees Ed and Tyleen Caffrey conducted the festivities and pageant judges Lesley Gama, Dr. Patricia Thatcher, and Whitni Buckley made their choices. Ellie Jo Weatherly named Little Miss

Seventeen little girls participated in the 2019 Little Miss Event. Ellie Jo Weatherly, six year old daughter of Landon and Jacy Weatherly, was named 2019 Little Miss Friona. She was sponsored by 5W Sales Company. She was crowned by 2018 Little Miss, Sarai Chavarria. (more...)
