Monreal shines in All-Star Game
Marco Monreal represented Friona well in the 15th Annual ASCO All-Star Classic football game last Saturday night at Lowery Field in Lubbock, Texas. He helped guide the “Red” team to a 45-34 victory over the “Blue” team. The annual charity game spotlights outstanding high school graduates from schools all across the region.
Marco completed 11 out of 18 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown.
It was a fitting end to a stellar high school career for the former Friona quarterback. As a Chieftain, Marco broke and now holds the school records for single game passing yards (329), single season passing yards (2,122), career passing yards (5,024), and career passing touchdowns (32).
The mission of the ASCO All-Star Classic is to provide financial assistance to young players that have been permanently injured while playing or practicing the game of football.
