School Board elects new officers
The Board of Trustees of the Friona Independent School District met in a regular session on Monday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the FISD Administration Building, 909 E. 11th Street, Friona, Texas 79035.
The meeting began with the oath of office being administered to the newly elected trustees, Jeri Lynn White and Darrin Gilley. Next, the Board elected officers for the 2019-2020 school term. Antonio Rocha is the new President, Andy Montana will serve as Vice President, and Jason Rector will serve as Secretary.
The Trustees approved signing a food service contract with Aramark for the 2019-2020 school year. It will be a one-year contract that could rollover up to five years and is cancellable. The cafeteria staff will remain intact. They will train and work under the direction of Aramark and will also receive company training and benefits. Aramark will also be available to cater local events in the community. Billy Maples is the company representative for Friona. Aramark is a proven leader in providing quality food service for schools, companies, and other organizations.
Items on the Consent Agenda were discussed which included the Minutes from the previous meeting and reports on all of the various school financial accounts. The various summary reports were approved and the payment of the monthly bills was approved. The Consent Agenda was approved by an unanimous vote. The Board also met in Closed Session. The next scheduled regular meeting is 7:00 p.m. on June 10, 2019.
