Friona Student wins Blue Ribbon
Tim Ally competed in the 2019 Agricultural Mechanics Show for FFA that was held recently in Houston. He is the first student from Friona to have an Ag Mechanics project in the Houston Show.
Tim invented a calf cart that will be a put to use in his parents’ dairy. The wheelbarrow is specially developed to pick up newborn calves. The winch pulls in the calves so there is no heavy back-breaking lifting involved. The tractor tire keeps the calf soft and snug so it can’t jump out. The powerful electric motor makes it easy to drive it even in muddy conditions. In the lay down position, the calf can be fed colostrum easily.
Tim won a Blue Ribbon for innovation. He also won 5th place for showmanship and was 6th in his class of Livestock Handling & Restraining Equipment. He wishes to thank everyone that helped him make his project a success.
