Skip Hodges (right) received the Ralph Shirley Award as Fire Fighter of the Year at the annual Friona Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Banquet last week. John Taylor presented the award on behalf of the fire department and the City of Friona.
Congratulations!!! Marca Lynn Herring received a “retirement rocking chair” from her fellow employees this week in honor of her retirement from Friona InterBank. Marca has worked at the bank for the past 30 years.

On Tuesday, December 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the Friona Public Library will hold its “Cookies with Santa” event. Children can take their picture with Santa and eat cookies. Everyone is invited to stop by and visit.

City Council approves resolution to support the U.S. Census
The Friona City Council met in regular session on Monday, December 9th at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 619 Main in Friona, Texas. The meeting began with a roll call, an invocation, and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Commissioners receive 2019 Fire Report
The Parmer County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the County Courtroom of the Parmer County Courthouse in Farwell, Texas. The meeting began with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag.

Seliger holds town hall in Friona
Last Thursday morning, State Senator Kel Seliger held Town Hall Meeting #475 at the Depot in the Friona city park. This year’s tour through the counties of Senate District 31 allows him to meet with the citizens of the panhandle and to discuss the activities of the 86th Legislature. District 31 consists of 37 counties and is the approximate size of the state of Indiana.
