New Chapel Dedication
The Hansard Family Funeral Home held a dedication ceremony last Sunday at the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel. Dusty Hansard welcomed the crowd of family, friends, and visitors to the new facility which will allow the funeral home to offer a wide variety of options to the families it serves. In the photo at right, Dusty & Melodee Hansard and Ron’s wife Melba showcase the painting of Ron that will be displayed in the new chapel.
Students Need Help
The National English Honor Society at Friona High School needs your help! We are collecting money to buy books for a school destroyed by Hurricane Michael last fall. Former FJHS teachers’ assistant, Donna Mullins, works at this Panama City, Florida, school. Mrs. Mullins was instrumental in starting Friona’s Special Olympics, which continues to be successful today. One of the biggest supporters of this program was Barbara Curry, an eighth grade English teacher who died of cancer while teaching in Friona. The local chapter of NEHS is named in her honor.
