Eloy Joseph Flores
Eloy Joseph Flores, 53 of Bovina passed away December 30, 2018 in Lubbock. Prayer services were held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home in Friona with Celebration of Life Services scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2018 at the Bovina United Methodist Church in Bovina with Rev. Larry Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Eloy was born September 7, 1965 in Friona to Jose Salome and Elodia Hernandez Flores.
Eloy was an Agency Producer for Farmers Insurance, a Certified EMT working in Bovina and Muleshoe, loved to play softball and power lift, was an avid music and Dallas Cowboys fan and his family knew him as “Uncle Homey”.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Jose Salome Flores, Jr.
Those to carry on his legacy include his parents of Bovina, wife Janna Flores of Keller, Texas, 3 sons-Christian Flores, Corey Flores and Cameron Flores, all of Keller Texas, and 3 sisters-Maria Flores of Friona, Sylvia DeLeon of Bovina and Patricia Gallagher of Clovis.

Virginia Dollie Espire de’Gayaree Jennings
Virginia Dollie Espire de’Gayarre Jennings, 94 of Friona passed away December 26, 2018 in Canyon. Celebration of Life Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Friona United Methodist Church with Rev. Archie Echols of Lubbock and Rev. Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Virginia was born September 28, 1924 in West Helena, Arkansas to Phillip Esteven and Virgie Lee Rowland de’Gayarre. She later married Elvie Tipton Jennings September 9, 1944 in West Helena, Arkansas and moved to Friona, Texas where Virginia was a bookkeeper for Western Union, the Friona I.S.D., Zola Cranfill and the family business, the Friona Airport.
She was an avid music lover, especially her beloved Elvis and Blues music, traveling back to Arkansas many times for Blues Music festivals. She was a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, was a great tennis and basketball player, enjoyed deer hunting and collectables, especially collecting antiques. She was known as a hard worker that loved life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 3 sisters.

Mary Schlabs
Mary Schlabs, of Hereford, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 25th at the age of 86.
There was a Mass of Christian Burial held at St Anthony’s Catholic Church on Friday, December 28th at 10:00 am. Fr. Anthony Neusch, Fr. Shane Wieck, and Deacon Joe Hochstein were the celebrants.
Mary was born August 12th, 1932 to George and Thekla (Simons) Hund in Marienthal, Kansas, and the family moved to Hereford, Texas in 1945. She was a Hereford High School graduate in 1949 and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Deaf Smith County Electric Co-op prior to her marriage. She met her husband Raymond Schlabs at the St. Anthony Church Youth Group and the two were married on October 6, 1954. Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She served the community in her role as member of the Christian Mothers, as president of the Antonian Circle, RCIA sponsor, Campfire Girl sponsor, and as Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer. In her free time, she enjoyed rosary making, gardening and quilting.
Mrs. Schlabs is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond Schlabs, and by her son Kenneth Schlabs, her brothers George Hund, Jr., James Hund, and Herman Hund.
She is survived by her children: Raymond Jr. and wife Charla Schlabs, Tom and wife Joyce Schlabs, Karen and husband Lance Martin, Barbara (late husband Michael Franks), all of Hereford, Texas, Donna and husband Mike Henry of Mansfield, Texas, daughter-in-law Melissa Schlabs (late husband Kenneth Schlabs) of Hereford, Texas and Cheryl and husband Kevin Johnson of Clarendon, Texas, her sister Dorothy and husband Tony of Vega, Texas, and her two sisters-in-law Alice Hund and Carolyn Hund, both of Hereford, Texas,
Mrs. Schlabs leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends all of whom love and will miss her greatly.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Anthony’s School Endowment Fund.

Sarah Ann Miller
Sarah Ann Miller, 96, of Friona passed away December 20, 2018 in Amarillo. Internment was at the Friona Cemetery in Friona. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. All arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Sarah was born June 20, 1922 in Dallas to David Elisha and Francis Pauline Watkins Moore. She later married Claude Miller July 23, 1938 in Roswell, N.M.
She was an interior decorator and designer in the Dallas area for over 20 years before moving the Friona area to help her husband on the family farm and raise their children. She was a long time member of the Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter-Nancy Marie Miller, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 1 great-great-grandson Aaron Tate Osborn.
Those to carry on her legacy include 1 son-Johnny Miller and wife Beulah Ann of Friona, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Gracie Bautista Caballero
Gracie Bautista Caballero, 51 of Lubbock, formerly of Friona passed away December 18, 2018 in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Services were held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Friona Cemetery Memorial Chapel in Friona with Rev. Brian Mullins, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bovina, officiating. Burial followed in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Gracie was born March 4, 1967 in Dimmitt to Juan Reyna and Maria Francisca Saldana Bautista. She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for 20 years. Her passion was caregiving, first to her family, then many others. Gracie is known for her love for family and living life to its fullest. Her kind heart and positive outlook will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother.

James W. “Jimmy” Pope, Jr.
James W. “Jimmy” Pope, Jr., 80, went to his Heavenly home Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Funeral services were held in Weatherford, on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church at Possum Kingdom Lake. Burial followed in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born August 15, 1938 in Lubbock to the late James Wesley Pope, Sr. and Zephra Iva (Robertson) Pope. He married Peggy Bourland May 26, 1963 in Hale Center. Jimmy, known to many as “Coach”, completed a 41 year coaching/teaching career before retirement and never thought of doing anything else. Throughout his 41 years, he impacted many young minds and his influence will be felt for generations to come. His favorite sports were basketball and baseball. His children grew up and thrived riding school buses to games, doing homework in the bleachers, and considering themselves a part of every team he coached.
Coach Pope started his career in Hale Center and completed it at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall with stops in Mason, Big Spring, Gruver, Memphis, New Deal, Friona, Muleshoe, Quanah, and Cisco. A career highlight is that Coach Jim Pope and son, Coach Kevin Pope, are the only documented father/son duo to reach the acclaimed honor of 600+ basketball game career wins. Jimmy had lived at Possum Kingdom Lake since 2000.
Survivors include: wife, Peggy Bourland Pope of Possum Kingdom Lake; sons, Kevin Pope and wife, Jodi of Brock and Shane Pope and wife, Natalie of Eunice, New Mexico; daughter, Erika Carter and husband, Chris of Possum Kingdom Lake; seven grandchildren, Madison Pope and partner, Nataniel Klugman, Ashton Pope, Jayli Pope, Maggie Pope, and Devin Pope, Quin Carter and wife, Meredith, and Bryson Carter; great granddaughter, Bethany Carter; brother, Robert Pope and wife, Gwyn of Abernathy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Pope. Visitation was held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church at Possum Kingdom Lake before the service.
