Tourney benefits local cancer coalitions
It was a record year for the Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament. Over $54,000 was raised and the proceeds will go to the Parmer County Cancer Coalition and the Hereford Cancer Coalition. Both organizations provide grants to local cancer patients. This year marked the 10th Anniversary of the golf event and the 4th year it has been held in Hereford.
The total payout for the tournament was $12,750 and the top 3 teams in each flight received cash prizes. The tournament champions were Phillip Shelton and Darren Renwick. Phillip is the grandson-in-law to Pudge and is married to Amanda (Messenger) Shelton. Amanda is the daughter of Jay and Sally Messenger of Muleshoe. Phillip and Amanda currently live in Tennessee. Darren Renwick works for Yesway. Phillip and Darren received a cash prize and a golf bag each.
Greg Lewellen, spokesperson for the event, would especially like to thank the Deaf Smith Chamber of Commerce, the City of Hereford, and the staff at John Pitman Golf Course for their help and guidance in operating the tournament. See you next year!
The Kendrick Family wishes to thank everyone who made the Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament possible. (l-r) Tara & Matthew Kendrick of Lubbock, Andy & Casey Kendrick of Lubbock, and Phillip & Amanda Shelton of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
