The Friona Star would like to remind everyone that we are always accepting ‘What Friona Means to Me’ stories for the newspaper. We have enjoyed seeing the different perspectives of Friona residents, the histories and memories from young to old. Every tale is precious, so please feel free to share or encourage friends and family to share what Friona means to you. Stories should be 500 words or less and can be emailed to frionastar@wtrt.net or dropped off at the Friona Star office.

John Gurley reports the slight rain we had over the weekend. He reads .12 inches, which is certainly better than none at all. John informed us today that the smallest reading you can take is .01 inches, and anything less than that is called a “trace.” Makes sense, right?

It seems like a great time for small businesses in Friona, doesn’t it? We have a newly opened Gems Salon, Pope Boys BBQ Truck, and now the Nutrition Spot! I haven’t been able to try this new spot yet, but I have heard very good things about their teas and protein shakes, two things I love to drink. I noticed that their Facebook page posts are written in both English and Spanish, something very accessible to the people in this community. The Nutrition Spot offers more than just what I have mentioned here, though! Head over to their Facebook page and give them a ‘Like’, and you will be able to see all the wonderful things they have to offer. Their business hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. They are located at 613 Main St. in Friona.
