FCCLA Extends Gratitude to the Community
Celebrate FCCLA Week February 12-16. The members of FCCLA want to express their appreciation for this community. Without you, our efforts are meaningless. We want you to know what we have been up to this 2017-2018 school year; We currently have 35 members, we plan to go to Odessa for Regionals on March 1-3 and those who advance will go to State in Dallas on April 4-7. This year we had freshman recruitment, recognized cafeteria employees, hosted a hospitality room for Veteran’s day, did UIL Debate and Chieftain Scholars, had a birthday party for Larry Gonzales (our bus driver who survived cancer), enjoyed new foods on International Day, and competed at the Tri-State Fair.
We also participated in recycling, donated to Hurricane Harvey victims, volunteered with “Snack Pak 4 Kids”, and cooked a Thanksgiving meal for a needy family. We attended a Peer Education training in Dallas, a Dimmitt Fall workshop, and an Education workshop for future educators, had a program for 1st-graders about eating healthy and getting exercise, and held a door contest for Tobacco prevention. We had an anti-bullying theme for Trunk or Treat, a Winter Wonderland (promote positivity) for all Primary students, entered the Maize Day’s Parade and had a fundraiser booth. Our goal is to grow our involvement with the community and school. We aim to be the best we can be and to make you all proud. (FCCLA is advised by Erin Barnett).
