Well a big storm is coming just in time to mess up Thanksgiving travel plans. A wintry mix, freezing rain, maybe snow, who knows. Definitely some rain coming they say. I may or may not be traveling to Denton for Thanksgiving. I hope your Thanksgiving plans all work out with plenty of turkey and family time. Pass the giblet gravy.

Received a subscription renewal from Charlene Harper way up in Portland, Oregon, with this note: "Always look forward to receiving my Friona Star every week. It's snowing on Mt. Hood. We really needed it." Thank you Charlene and Merry Christmas.

I guess if you folks were planning on snagging some Black Friday bargains you might have missed them. It has been Black Friday month for lots of stores. I read where you can order Black Friday bargains now online from Wal Mart. Many other stores have decided to close on Thanksgiving Day. There seems to be plenty of time for bargains before Christmas. Hopefully Black Friday will be extinct soon. Don't forget to shop local too. WE have some pretty neat stores here in Friona.

Remember the Muslim kid who took a clock to school in Irving and was arrested because it looked like a bomb? His name is Ahmed Mohamed. The family said they were moving to Qatar where he will be appreciated more. Guess they need some traveling money so they are suing the city of Irving and the school district for about $15 million or so. Plus they want a letter of apology. The family said Ahmed's reputation in the global community is permanently scarred. He is 14-years-old. How much global reputation does he have?

The UIL enrollment cutoff numbers for the 2016-17 district realignments have been released. The 3A Division I cutoffs are 319-479. Friona ISD turned in 325 so we missed dropping to Division II by six students and will be one of the smallest 3A schools in the state4. Both Dimmitt and Tulia dropped to Division II with 308 enrollments. There is speculation we could either be in a four team district or an eight team district. The new district realignments for football and basketball will be released February 1, 2016. Find out more at uiltexas.org/alignments.

Want to say thanks to Dr. Gary Cash and give him credit for the Thanksgiving turkey photo gracing our front page today. We often use Gary's photos in the Star. He gets some amazing wildlife photos and seems to prefer windmills and sunsets. Thank you Dr. Cash. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving holiday.
