Commissioners meeting report
Parmer County commissioners met in regular session Monday November 23 in Farwell. County Extension Agent James Bridges reported that the recent stock show dinner raised about $24,000, a record for the event. Money is used to assist the Livestock Show youth in purchasing their animals.
The offer to purchase the Bovina building currently the Justice of the Peace office from Bruce Fleming was declined. The commissioners have made an offer to purchase the former Bovina Medical Clinic building at 509 Avenue I for county offices. The amount of the offer was not disclosed.
A fee requested by the High Plains Water District to be paid to the South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) was not approved. The water district wants SPAG to take over water district administrative work, applying for grants, etc. and propose to assess fees on county and city governments. Commissioners declined to pay the fee of $500+ since it was not in the current budget.
Sheriff Randy Geries reported that the Parmer County jail population was lower than it has been in a while. He said they were currently housing 24 inmates.
