Council to consider 2014 tax rate
The Friona city council will meet in regular session Monday August 11 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 619 Main St. All council meetings are open to the public.
After roll call, invocation, and pledge of allegiance, time is allotted for public comments.
After approval of previous minutes the council will discuss a report from the Parmer County Appraisal District about the 2014 effective tax rate, discuss a proposed tax rate, and set dates for required public hearings if needed.
Other items on the agenda include:
-- consider an ordinance granting Atmos Energy franchise rights to do business in the city. This will be the second reading of the ordinance.
-- award a bid for a cash dryland lease of a 72.253 acres tract east of the city sewer plant on CR 20.
-- consider amending, renewing, or a new contract with Republic Services for solid waste collections.
-- discuss and approve July accounts payable and financial statement.
-- authorize city manager to transfer certain escrow money from roof hail damage insurance to Prairie Acres checking account as needed.
-- authorize city manager to transfer escrow money when needed from the sewer escrow account for a lift-station grinder pump.
-- hear departmental report from the police department regarding budget, expenses, personnel, and upcoming activities and events.
-- authorize city manager to solicit bids to sell old computer equipment.
The agenda items above make up the tentative meeting agenda and are subject to change. The final and official meeting agenda will be posted on the window of city hall 72 hours prior to the meeting.
