Wade Schueler and Jose Cigarroa won the four way race for the two seats on the Friona school board. Cigarroa received 281 votes, Schueler 186, Tracy Bunker 156, and Brent Loflin 151.
In Bovina, Frank Gonzalez was re-elected mayor by a 1-- to 73 margin over Stan Miller. Yolanda Robledo won the unexpired term seat on the city council with 74 votes to Josue Gonzales 69 and Brenda Riddle 31. Winners of the two open seats on the city council were Jeff Steelman 123 votes, and Matt Hromas 98 votes. Mike Olvera received 72 votes.
In the state runoff election May 27, on the Republican ballot will be: Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst & Dan Patrick; Attorney General Dan Branch & Ken Paxton; Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Merritt & Sid Miller; Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian & Ryan Sitton.
On the Democrat runoff ballot will be: U.S. Senator David Alameel & Kesha Rogers; Agriculture Commissioner Richard “Kinky” Friedman & Jim Hogan.
Early voting for the state runoff election will be May 19-23 at the courthouse in Farwell only. The county commissioners have consolidated polling locations for the May 27 runoff election. In Parmer County you can vote at Calvary Church in Friona, Bovina EMS building, Farwell Community Center, and the Lazbuddie Methodist Church.
