The air conditioning and heating unit for the new gym/activity center at the high school looks like it is powerful enough to keep things comfortable. Superintendent Austin said they believe the new heat and air units in the classrooms, new insulation and lighting, and the new roof will reduce the district’s utility bills at the high school by up to 70%.

Been a slow news week. Not a lot of news in this issue of the Star. It is mid-summer and sometimes news is slow. People go on vacation, visit out-of-town, or stay inside and stay cool. We have published lists and schedules this week. School supply lists, football and volleyball schedules, and a Maize Days schedule are included. Might clip them out and save.

Friona FFA at state convention

Friona FFA was well represented at the 85th Texas State FFA Convention in Dallas July 8-12, 2013. The Texas FFA Convention is held each year to recognize the efforts of FFA members across the state of Texas. This year’s attendance was 11,995 members and guests.

Class of '63 has 50-year reunion

The Class of 1963 met July 20 for its 50th class reunion. Of the 51 graduates, 22 attended. Exchange student Eve Braunschweiger and husband Blasé traveled from Basel, Switzerland. Eve lived with the Ernest Osborn family while she attended school here and has been back to Friona many times. (more...)
