Town Talk II
by Ron Carr

Howdy! Lot of stuff going on you need to know about. Election day is just under two weeks away. You can early vote next week in Friona on Monday and Thursday at Friona State Bank. Election day is Tuesday November 6. Yes it will finally be over one way or another. I am real tired of all the campaigning. I hope you will vote. Please. Thank you.

The ladies of the Friona United Methodist Church will host an Election Day Cowboy Stew meal. It will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. November 6 in the fellowship hall. The cost is $5 per person and proceeds will benefit the local SnackPak4Kids program. So go vote and then have a bowl of stew. Nice idea. I bet it will be good.

CORRECTION: Here is the correct Amarillo address for Tom & Bettye Jarboe: #6 Painted Daisy, Amarillo, TX 79106. Phone is 806-467-7237. The address we had in last week’s Town Talk was incorrect. We listed the street as Painted Lady instead of Painted Daisy. The Jarboes were packing up to move Monday and invite friends to keep in touch. Sorry about the error.

The Friona high school choir will have a spaghetti supper in the high school cafeteria Friday night, October 26, before the Chiefs vs. Bushland football game. It will be good so come support the choir and the Chiefs. (more...)

Mrs. Campbell says, “Make plans now to come together as a community to make our city park a place to remember for years to come for your children, as well as for yourselves and our fellow citizens. (more...)

Squaws sweep district, head to playoffs
From Coach Bryan Masse

The JV and varsity volleyball teams worked hard to complete a sweep of Dimmitt there Saturday. The JV had to overcome a change in their lineup but adjusted fine to win 2-0.

The varsity swept Dimmitt 3-0 to win the outright district championship.

All three teams were victorious Tuesday night in Friona. The C team started off the night with a 2-0 sweep of the Tulia Lady Hornets. With this victory the C team became district champs. I think the C team became better as the year went along and everyone improved on their skill level. Congrats Coach Moreno.

The JV team also won over Tulia 2-0. The JV continued their dominance over district opponents and were also district champs. The JV team did not lose a district game. Well done. JV Coach Ray continues to do a great job developing players for the varsity level. Great job Coach Ray. (more...)
