A Christmas night in the park
Friona’s 1st Annual “Light Up The Night!” Holiday Extravaganza and Christmas in the Park is being planned. Local organizer Dana Campbell and volunteers are organizing the event to coincide with Santa’s annual visit to the city park.
This year the Christmas in the Park celebration will be Monday, December 3, 2012. Mark your calendar.
Mrs. Campbell says, “Make plans now to come together as a community to make our city park a place to remember for years to come for your children, as well as for yourselves and our fellow citizens.”
Organizations, businesses, churches, and citizens of Friona are invited to decorate a small area of the city park for Christmas. Your group will be assigned an area with a tree and electricity. You can decorate this area in any way you want, using your own lights and decorations or using donated decorations that can be found at city hall. (If you have any decorations, lights, etc. to donate, take them by city hall.)
A first place prize will be awarded to the best-decorated area. Call Dana Campbell today at 265-5213 to reserve an area at the park. Decorating will take place any time from November 26 to November 30. The booths in the park are free. Suggestions are to sell hot chocolate, baked goods, chili, beef jerky, gifts, etc. This is a good fundraising opportunity for organizations, churches, businesses and citizens.
“This year’s Christmas in the Park is going to be an evening filled with festive fun for the entire family,” Mrs. Campbell said. There will be Santa Claus, Christmas caroling by local choirs, and a Girl Scout Coat Drive. (Donate children or adult coats at WT Services.) To participate and be a part of Christmas in the Park on December 3, call Dana Campbell at 265-5213.
