The Chieftains first win of the season was a 49-0 romp over Booker, played Saturday September 3 in Pampa. The Chiefs rushed for 259 yards and seven TDs. Leading rusher was Luis Trejo with 121 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns. Quarterback Marco Monreal carried 13 times for 56 yards and two touchdowns.
Salvador Santiago rushed for 48 yards on 12 carries. Julius Orozco scored a touchdown on 5 carries for 19 yards and Sergio Flores added a touchdown with 5 carries and 15 yards.
Monreal completed 8 of 14 passes for 155 yards. Receiver Jonathan Hernandez caught 5 passes for 112 yards, Mario Hernandez caught 2 passes for 17 yards and Chris Rodriguez hauled in one pass for 26 yards.
The Chiefs ran 65 offensive plays for a total of 414 yards and 21 first downs. J. Hernandez also punted four times for 162 yards, a 40.5 yard average.
The Chiefs are on the road to Bovina Friday September 9to take on the rival Mustangs. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. Cargill will be serving free hamburgers at the game.
