My daughter Candee Holmes came to visit over the weekend. She is my firstborn oldest child. Candee lives in Coppell with husband Walt. My kids don't get to visit often enough so it is always a special treat when they do.

My friend Norma Whitten of Bovina called to say her granddaughter Chloee Whitten has some serious archery skills. Chloee is a 4th grader at Clovis Christian School. She celebrated her 10th birthday this week. Chloee's archery team placed 1st and she placed 1st in state archery competition in Albuquerque. She was 13th out of 826 overall participants from around New Mexico. That is impressive. Archery takes strength and a steady hand. Her photo with her bow is on this page.
Chloee is the daughter of Sherry and Brett Whitten of Bovina. She is the granddaughter of Earl and Norma Whitten of Bovina and Erma Brownd of Friona.

The Friona Donut Shop opened this week, according to owners Sopanha Eng and James Lu. The building next to Tasty Cream on Hwy 60 has a new yellow and red paint job. They bought the entire building complex including the old Budget Motel property which is now the Frio Apartments.
The Donut Shop is open from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. seven days a week. In addition to all kinds of donuts they serve kolaches, pigs in a blanket, biscuit sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, coffee and all drinks. The phone number is 806-344-6486. Stop by and welcome them to Friona and enjoy some goodies.

They are running a classified ad this week looking for security guard personnel. I visited with General Manager Pete Haugh this week. They are interested in veterans, retirees, or senior citizens and anyone else that may qualify.
