The Chiefs and the Tigers both put on an offensive show but the Chiefs survived to win 76-59. Coach Daniel Rosales provided these stats from the game: Luis Trejo set the school record for most rushing yards in a game with 359 yards. The previous record was 312 yards by Eddy Garcia. The 76 points was the second highest points scored in Friona football history. The record is 79 points set in 1934.
Coach Rosales points out the Chiefs record of 4-6 is the most wins in seven seasons. Total points scored this season was 268, the most points scored since the 8-4 season in 2009. With 2,793 rushing yards, 1,066 passing yards, and a total of 3,809 offensive yards, it is the most offensive yards in each category in the past 7 seasons.
Trejo scored 6 touchdowns on 32 carries. Marco Monreal, Salvador Santiago, Sergio Flores, and Joel Cigarroa also scored touchdowns. Monreal carried 15 times for 152 yards and Flores 10 times for 99 yards. Monreal completed 8 of 16 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown. Leading receiver Jonathan Hernandez caught 6 passes for 86 yards.
For the season Trejo carried 152 times for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns. Monreal carried 150 times for 707 yards and 10 touchdowns. Hernandez had 48 pass receptions for 654 yards and two touchdowns. Monreal completed 85 passes on 154 attempts for 1,046 yards and 4 TDs.
