Chamber of Commerce members, friends, family, children, and friends gathered Saturday October 15 for a ribbon cutting at the Frio Draw Driving School. It is located on 7th St. in the former Masonic Lodge building. Owners Vickie and Dennis Field are in the center with the scissors. The driving school offers driver’s education classes and assists youngsters attain their driving permit/license.

First National Bank-Friona Banking Center held a sausage wrap at the bank Tuesday Oct 18 to raise money for the Parmer County Cancer Coalition. Thanks to donations from local citizens they raised $1,627.50. The check was presented to Greg and Jamie Lewellen, co-chairmen of the PCCC. From left are Mayra Olmos, Yvette Williams, Cynthia Silva, Greg and Jamie Lewellen, Ab Hendley, and Jeff Ray.

Next Wednesday, October 26, is Victory Family Worship Center’s annual Coats for Kids event. Coats are given free to area children. It starts at 6:00 p.m. at the church. They take donations or you can go purchase a coat or two to donate. Pastor Robert Kerby says, “Our goal is to give every kid a brand new coat.” If I recall they also have some gloves and hot chocolate. This is a worthy event for the community and we thank Victory Family for providing warmth to the kids.

Chiefs fall to Littlefield 48-20
The Littlefield Wildcats came to town Friday night and left with a 48-20 win and a 2-0 district record. The chieftains fell to 0-2 in district. They travel to Muleshoe Friday October 21. The Mules lost to River Road Friday and are 1-1 in district.
