Chiefs fall to Roosevelt 29-26
The Chieftains led the Roosevelt Eagles for most of the game last Friday night. They led the Eagles 26-22 until late in the fourth quarter but the Eagles scored late to take the win 29-26.
Omar Ramos earned offensive player of the week from coaches with his 123 yards rushing on 15 carries and two touchdowns. Michael Garcia added 34 yards on 5 carries and quarterback Mason Loflin rushed for 32 yards on 5 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Mason completed 8 of 15 passes for 52 yards. Brad Stowers caught 2 passes for 24 yards and Jose Zamudio had 2 catches for 15 yards. The Chiefs had 191 yards rushing and 52 passing for 243 total yards of offense.
Junior Edgar Guerrero earned defensive player of the week honors. Edgar was credited with 7 solo tackles including 4 sacks. Edgar was credited with 7 solo tackles including 4 sacks. Antonio Adame and Abel Palacios each had 5 solo tackles. Mason Loflin punted 5 times for 177 yards, a 35.40 average.
The Chiefs close out non-district play this week as they host the Dalhart Golden Wolves. Game time is 7:30 p.m. It is Pink Out Night so everyone wear pink. The Noon Lions will be selling hamburgers and fries before and during the game. Come out and support the Chieftains as they head for district play next week at Muleshoe.

Chieftain Edgar Guerrero (66) brings down a Lubbock Roosevelt runner. Coaches selected Edgar as Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Roosevelt. The junior lineman had seven solo tackles in the game, several for losses.
