Steven Ray Clark

Steven Ray Clark, 66 of Friona passed away March 9, 2020 in Lubbock.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home in Friona with family visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Friona Cemetery in Friona with Alan Clark and James Clark, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Steve was born November 26, 1953 in Hereford, Texas to Bobby Ray and Bobbie Lou (Evans) Clark. He was a 1972 graduate of Hereford High School.

Steve was an accomplished athlete and a lifelong scholar. In 1980, he purchased his first piece of farmland and found his calling. He loved the land and “fightin’ it”. Steve was the favorite of all who knew and loved him, especially his nieces and nephews. He patiently taught them how to play cards, chess, dominos, and Acquire, but he never just let them win. He never tired of playing beauty shop and tea party with his nieces or teaching his nephews all he knew about farming, hunting, and life. As they grew up, he was their biggest fan and always interested in where life was taking them. Steve worked many hours with his dad, brothers, and nephews farming and putting up sprinklers, and he enjoyed the many hands of Rook, Pinochle, and dominos they played in the cold winter months at Bob’s Pump. He was the family historian and passionately researched the genealogy of both sides of his family, as is evidenced by the volumes of material he collected over the years. Steve was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. His depthless knowledge, wit, and infectious smile are treasured memories.

Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, 1 brother-Bob Ellis Clark, and 1 nephew-Nathan Snyder.

He is survived by 3 brothers- Alan Clark and wife Nita, and Henry Cark and wife Paula of Friona, James Clark and wife Rachel of Amarillo, 1 sister-Deborah Snyder and husband John of Edmond, Oklahoma, a special friend-Mary Goodner of Lubbock, numerous nieces and nephews.
