Local Ranch Wins Top Team Award
Wilson Cattle/Haystack Cattle of Canyon, Texas, captured the top team award at the Ride for the Brand Ranch Rodeo on August 3rd in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Wilson/Haystack team included Rodey Wilson, Clay Paige, Tyler Rice, Jed Middleton, and Tanner Allen. They represent the cities of Canyon, Amarillo, Friona, and Blackwell, Texas. At the Ride for the Brand Ranch Rodeo, twelve teams competed for top team, top hand, top horse, and event awards.
“Horse power is important and a big deal,” says team captain Rodey Wilson. “I like the stray gathering. It’s real and everyone participates. I like the branding, too. You have to set the calves up and can’t run wide open. Everyone is so good it means a lot to get the win and qualify for the World.”
