Commissioners approve bonds for new employees
The Parmer County Commissioners Court met in regular session on Thursday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the County Courtroom of the Parmer County Courthouse in Farwell, Texas. The meeting began with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag.
The meeting was rescheduled to Thursday to allow for the attendance of funeral services on Monday of Parmer County employee Chad Jennings, who worked for Precinct 4 Commissioner Casey Russell.
The Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. Approval was given for payment of the accounts payables as presented by County Treasurer Sharon May. The Commissioners also reviewed and approved the Treasurer’s Report.
A discussion of the county’s poll books included Awnya Sanchez who is the County Voter Registrar. Since the Court is examining the possibility of purchasing new voting equipment, an a examination of current voting procedures was deemed necessary. No action was taken.
In other business, Commissioners approved bonds for new Deputy County Clerk, Breann Saenz of Muleshoe, and new Deputy County Treasurer, Lucy Martinez of Bovina. Approval was given to run a natural gas line under a county road in Precinct 3. Also, a request from Lazbuddie ISD for $9,000 of its Permanent School Funds was approved.
Sheriff Randy Geries informed the Court that was currently housing 19 inmates in the Parmer County Law Enforcement Center and that he had just recently hired a new deputy.
