According to a report by the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, January 14th at approximately 9:30 p.m. a Ruan milk transport truck was traveling west on State Highway 86 after loading product from some of the nearby dairies. The driver apparently encountered a number of cattle on the roadway approximately 2.5 miles east of Hub on SH 86. The truck hit some cattle causing it to swerve to the right and crash onto its side flipping over and rupturing the tank. Just under 8,000 gallons of milk was dumped onto the roadway and into the ditch. A total of ten head of cattle were hit and killed. A short time later, a white SUV with four occupants came upon the scene. It was believed that the SUV hit one of the dead animals causing the vehicle to flip and crash near the transport truck.
