The good and the bad
Weatherman John Gurley reported this week that he has officially recored 2.63” of rain for the month of August. The storms that hit the Friona area last week produced a wide variety of results. Some areas received nothing while other areas received well over 4” of rain. Highways were flooded around Summerfield and Friona lost electricity for a couple of hours. The rains have been beneficial for the most part, but we are still in a moderate drought. The downside to having all of the storm fronts roll through is that some of them can produce hail and very heavy rain. The pictures were taken by John and J’Lond Jarecki, who are farming Betty Reeve’s Carthel Place just west of Friona.
