Friona ISD students in Kindergarten – 12th grade are eligible for parent or teacher nominations to the Gifted and Talented Program offered by Friona ISD for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents who desire to nominate their child for this program may contact the principal or counselor in their child’s building for the appropriate form. Forms need to be completed and returned to the principal by January 31, 2019. A certified Gifted and Talented teacher will administer the necessary tests for admission to the program.

FHS is victim of bomb threat hoax
According to various law enforcement agencies, dozens of bomb threats were reported last Thursday at government buildings, media outlets, banks, and schools across the United States. The threats were sent in spam emails requesting that their targets pay ransoms in bitcoin. The emails were all similar in that the sender had hired a “recruited mercenary” to place an explosive device in the building and that it would be detonated unless $20,000 in cyber currency was paid. These threats were a twist on earlier cyber extortion schemes that threatened individuals with blackmail if a payment was not sent.

TDLR offers holiday driving advice to traveling Texans
Before you set out on your holiday trip, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation recommends that you take a few minutes to make sure your vehicle is ready. And while you’re on the road, slow down, pay attention and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Driver safety is important to TDLR because we regulate the Driver Education and Safety program, which oversees Texas driver education, parent-taught driver education and the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Program. We also license tow truck companies and drivers, who you may need to call on if you experience trouble on the road.
