Friona Banking Center employees Cynthia Silva (left) and Brittany Jones (right) present a check to Parmer County Cancer Coalition representatives Greg and Jamie Lewellen. At total of $1,550.00 was collected last Friday at the FNB-Friona Banking Center’s annual Sausage Wrap Cookout.

It was Senior Recognition Night last Tuesday. Senior players, manager, cheerleaders, and their parents were recognized in a ceremony before the game. Congratulations Seniors!!!

Town Talk

An early reminder of Christmas in the park. On December 1, 2018 Santa will be at the park from 3:00 pm- 5 pm. Then it will be followed by the light parade at dusk. Vendors set up around 2:30. Adopt a tree with decorating complete by December 1st. the decorations must be secured to withstand of the wind. Trees can be decorated in the middle of November. (more...)

Medicare open enrollment period has once again arrived. Parmer Medical Center and the Friona Rural Health Clinic want you to know that the hospital and clinic providers have not contracted with any Medicare Advantage Plans. We encourage you to carefully evaluate any Medicare Advantage Plan before you decide to give up traditional Medicare, and to check with the business office at 806-250-2754 to see how the plan will cover you at your local hospital and providers. Trunk or Treat is October 31

Everyone is invited to Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center. The event is being hosted this year by the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office, the Friona Police Department, and Leal’s Mexican Food Restaurants of Clovis, NM.

Leal’s of Clovis will be sponsoring a decorative trunk contest so decorate your vehicle in the Halloween spirit for a chance to win a prize. Leal’s will also sponsor a costume contest for both boys and girls. (more...)

Halloween Makes It More Than Spooky on the Road

Halloween Safety for Pedestrians, Bicyclists, and Motorists

Halloween means children getting outdoors to enjoy treats, fun, and games. Although Halloween comes before the change back to standard time this year, the days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. With shorter days comes more night driving. Because nighttime driving is more dangerous, it requires extra attention from motorists, as well as pedestrians and bicyclists. Sadly, Halloween also increases the number of drunk drivers on the road at night. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that from 2012 to 2016, 44% of all people killed in motor vehicle crashes on Halloween night were in crashes involving a drunk driver.
