Council considers diverse agenda
The Friona City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 8 in the Council Chambers at 619 Main to discuss a number of agenda items.
The council disapproved of the resolution denying the surcharge submitted by Southwestern Public Service Company. They went on to accept the agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative Interlocal Participation or Buyboard.
Friona Police Chief Isidro Jimenez presented the monthly police report and stated that they moved into the new police station starting on Tuesday, May 9. Sheriff Randy Geries and the Sheriff’s Office received the Friona calls for service during the two day down time while they moved.
The council approved the accounts payable and financial statements for April 2017 before they approved a request from the Chamber of Commerce for three upcoming sidewalk sale days. Those dates are July 4, July 15 during the Cheeseburger Festival and September 16 during Maize Days.
The council went into executive session to discuss the annual evaluation of the Municipal Court Judge. They reconvened and approved the continued services of Judge Campbell.
The council will meet again on May 30, 2017 at 8 a.m. to swear in the members. The regular meeting of the council will be June 12, 2017 in the Council Chambers. All meetings are open to the public.
