Friona firefighters responded to a fire call about 8:30 a.m. New Year’s Day at a portable classroom building on Euclid across from the primary school. The building housed a computer lab and classroom. Major damage was done to the interior and the building will have to be replaced. Initial reports say it was probably an electrical problem in the AC/heating unit but the official cause has not been determined. Insurance adjusters and fire investigators were expected to be on the scene this week. Students will have class in the Early Childhood building adjacent to the primary school. Classes resume Monday January 9.

John and wife Kathryn will be attending the Inaugural festivities next week. Daughter Hollis lives in DC and works in the Capitol Bldg. so she arranged tickets.

I received a lot of great advice on things to do and not do before and after the surgery from others in the community that received the same surgery. I appreciate all of the advice I was given. My recovery has gone very well so far. (more...)
