Budgets, tax rate on council agenda
The Friona city council will meet in regular session Monday September 14 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 619 Main St. All council meetings are open to the public.
The first business item on the agenda is to hold a public hearing to hear comments about the proposed city budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 and comments regarding proposed 2015 tax rate 0f $0.7512 per $100 valuation.
After any public comments the council will consider and take action on approval of adopting the budget and making appropriation for support of city government for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2015 and ending September 30, 2016.
The next item will be discussing the adoption of the tax rate of $0.7512 to support the city's general fund and sinking fund for the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
The council will consider and take action on approval of awarding the re-roofing bid at Prairie Acres. They will also vote to change the October meeting from October 12 (Columbus Day holiday) to Monday October 19.
Remaining agenda items include Friona police department report, approval of accounts payable for August, approval of the August financial statement, take action to close city hall Wednesday September 30 for year-end procedures, discuss the capital project fund, and consider and take action on approval of the fiscal year budget for Prairie Acres/Heritage Estates.
Agenda items above are the tentative agenda for Monday's meeting and are subject to change. The final agenda is posted on the front window of city hall 72 hours prior to the Monday meeting.
