Reeve Lake site for spectacular 4th of July
The Fourth of July in Friona will be the place to be on Saturday. The day will begin with a 5K run with signup starting at 7:30 a.m. at the playground area at Reeve Lake. The run will start at 8 a.m. For course information contact the Friona Chamber of Commerce at (806) 250-3491.
The 2nd Annual Neighborhood Parade will start at 10 a.m. from the home of organizer Crystal Moroney’s at 1606 W. 10th. Decorate your bikes, gators, golf carts and show your patriotism. Dairy treats and goodie bags will be given to the children.
At 11:15 a.m. a 4th of July parade will originate at Prairie Acres Nursing Home at 201 E. 15th and travel down 15th Street to Reeve Lake.
The Reeve Lake Sand Volleyball tournament will be held throughout the day. If your team will be playing in the tournament the Chamber is asking that each team bring their own volleyballs.
Visitors to Reeve Lake are invited to enjoy the lake, picnic and even fish. Children under 17-years-old may fish without a license.
Assorted food and novelty booths will be set up at 5 p.m. on the east side of the RV Park. Enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage wraps, frito pies, water and sodas.
Fireworks will illuminate the night sky beginning at dark. The display will be under the careful watch of the Friona Volunteer Fire Department.
Friona Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and the Parmer County Cancer Coalition are co-sponsoring this hometown event for the community to enjoy.
