Stowers scores record 53 points vs. Tulia
Some nights everything just seems to go right. In the case of Chieftain senior Cole Stowers Tuesday was that night. Cole broke his own school scoring record with 53 points against the visiting Tulia Hornets as the Chiefs battered the Hornets 76-29. Stowers hit on 15 two-point goals, six 3s, and five free throws. He scored 21 points in the 4th quarter. Teammate Kegan Kerby chipped in with 8 points, Cody Stowers 7, Brayden Pope 4, Jacob Dickson 2, and Mason Loflin 2.

In this game the Chiefs trailed the Wildcats until 29 seconds were left in the 4th quarter. With the score at Littlefield 50 Friona 48, Cole Stowers was fouled attempting a three-point shot. A three-point foul means three free throw attempts. Cole made all three to give the Chiefs their first lead 51-50.
Littlefield was later assessed a technical foul when a Wildcat shoved Cole Stowers out of bounds. Cole made the two technical shots to earn a 53-50 win. The Chiefs outscored the Wildcats 17-9 in the 4th quarter. Stowers led scoring with 29 points. Dallin Woods had 10, Mason Loflin 6, Kaegan Kerby 3, Josh Barnett 3, Cody Stowers 2.

The Chieftains led this game all the way, with a 33-20 halftime lead. Muleshoe outscored the Chiefs 32-27 in the second half but it was too little too late. Stowers again led scoring with 22 points. He made 8 of 9 free throws in the 4th quarter. Mason Loflin added 12 points, Brayden Pope 6, John David Haile 6, Jacob Dickson 6, Kaegan Kerby 4, Dallin Woods 4.

The Chiefs had a tough first half against the Bobcats. They scored only 13 points and trailed at the break 24-13. They came back to within one point but went cold as the Bobcats outscored Friona 20-13 in the 4th quarter. Stowers led scoring with 18 points. Loflin had 6, Woods 5, Pope 4, Kerby 3, Hickman 2, Barnett 2, Haile 1.

The Chiefs beat Tulia 76-29 to improve their district record to 3-1 and travel to Shallowater Friday January 30. Stowers had 15 two-point goals, 7 three-pointers, and 5 free throws. He scored 21 points in the 4th quarter.
