Greg Lewellen told me the annual Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Hereford Country Club in late July. Details will be provided later. The popular tournament benefits the Parmer County Cancer Coalition.

Girl Scout cookie sales start Friday January 16 through February. They will be around town, probably at some of the basketball games, and elsewhere. The cookies are $4.00 a box. The Chamber of Commerce needs your nominations for the citizen awards that are presented at the Chamber banquet. This year the banquet is March 26. The Parmer County Detention Center, better known as the jail, had a surprise state inspection last week. Sheriff Randy Geries said they passed the inspection, earning the best rating ever.

It is grandbaby time again. Jimmy and Jayson Grimsley became grandpas again as Kyle up in Dalhart had a baby son and Justin down in Arlington also had a baby son. More cousins, more grandbabies. Congrats to Jyl & Jayson and Jimmy & Barbara and the proud parents.
Also Grandma Randie Hamilton welcomed three new grandbabies in November courtesy of sons Cory and Chad. Twins for Chad. Their photos and announcements are elsewhere in this Star. It is a grandparents kind of year.

It is stock show season. The local Friona show is Saturday January 17. Begins at noon with brisket lunch available and show time is 1:00 p.m. Next week is the County show. Animal exhibition is Thursday January 22 beginning at 8:00 a.m. The premium sale is Saturday January 24 at 1:00 p.m. See the show schedule elsewhere in this Star.
