Retirement reception for Osborn
It is with mixed emotions that Parmer Medical Center is announcing the retirement of Joy Osborn. Joy has been with the clinic and hospital for a little over 32 years and has truly earned the opportunity to enjoy more time with her family and grandchildren.
She started as the insurance clerk for the clinic in 1982 and although she was a clinic employee. Joy also did the insurance billing for the hospital. In fact, at some point through the years, she has done everything on the business office side of the clinic.
In looking back over those 32 years, she feels the biggest and most impactful change was switching from paper records to electronic medical records. Joy recalls that when she started her employment there were no computers or even copiers, just a lot of paper and carbon sheets. She says, “We just tried to make it work.” Although this was an enormous and challenging task, she feels we now have greater details regarding the care patients receive and easier access to retrieve that information.
Joy’s readiness to help, her extensive knowledge of insurance matters, her strong, moral work ethic and attention to detail will be greatly missed. Joy plans to spend her time working in her garden, working with her church and spending a lot of time with her family and grandchildren. We wish her all the best in her retirement.
PMC will be hosting a public retirement reception from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 in the hospital lobby. Please join us in thanking Joy for her years of hard work and dedication to serve our patients and help her celebrate the beginning of the next chapter in her life.
