The city’s one-million gallon water tank north of Friona on CR 19 is under repair. The tank was drained and the inside cleaned and repainted. Now workers are preparing to cut off the top of the tank and install a new one. Depending on the weather the new roof installation should take about two weeks.

The St. Teresa’s Catholic Church Mexican dinner is Sunday March 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Beef enchiladas, rice, beans, tacos, chips, salsa, dessert, coffee or tea, all for $10 adults and $5 kids under 10 years. The St. Teresa ladies make the best salsa in the Panhandle, maybe in the world. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. I will definitely see you there.

The Friona Methodist Church lunch last Sunday to benefit King’s Manor Assisted Living in Hereford raised more than $3,500. Those attending said the food was generous and great. The church says thanks to everyone who attended.

Brumley benefit dinner set for Saturday Mar 8
A dinner and dance to benefit the Brumley family will be held Saturday March 8 at Veterinary Industries, 1011 Grand in Friona. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and admission is by donation.
Vet Industries manager Eldon Reeb said they will serve brisket and pulled pork sandwiches and sausage wraps. The Friona Noon Lions will provide their world famous French fries. Chips and dips, homemade desserts, and iced tea will also be available. Reeb said a band made up of local area musicians will provide entertainment.

Chiefs win powerlift meet
The Friona Powerlifting Championship meet was held in the new activity center Saturday February 22. The Chieftains won 1st place with 43 points. Dimmitt was 2nd with 21 points and Dalhart 3rd with 20 points.
The outstanding light weight lifter (best overall in 114 through 165 lb class) was Chieftain Adan Ramirez. Outstanding heavy weight lifter (best overall in 181 through super heavy weight class) was Chieftain Edgar Guerrero.
