Volleyball ends and basketball begins. The new season for the basketball Squaws began Tuesday night with a trip to Lubbock's Christ the King. The Squaws won 48-35. Coach Darrell Ray took 10 varsity girls and when the night ended they had all played and scored.
Sophomore Paige Upton lead the scoring with 8 points. Other scoring: Taylor Stallings 6, Arianna Moreno 6, Christina Green 5, Alexis Alvarado 5, Kendall Barnett 5, Johnna Thompson 5, Kayla Castillo 2, and Evelyn Lozoya 2.
Christina Green had 5 blocked shots, Alexis Alvarado had 5 steals, Johnna Thompson had 10 rebounds and Arianna Moreno had 9 rebounds. Paige Upton and Kendall Barnett each had one 3-point goal.
The next game is Friday November 14 at Sanford-Fritch. Game times are 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday November 18 is the first home game vs. Hale Canter. Game times are 5:00/6:30/8:00 p.m.
The Squaws JV beat Christ the King 18-16, led by Barrera 8 points, Hurst 4, Davila 2, Grado 2, and Maldonado 2.
