Our Friona Star managing editor Dana Jameson is on crutches this week after an injury at the Muleshoe football game. She was on the sideline taking photos when a play came her way, the boys ran out of bounds, a little shoving went on and one of the players rolled into Dana and damaged her left knee. The team trainer administered ice, FHS principal Dr. Pam Ray picked up Dana's camera and continued shooting photos, eventually the Muleshoe ambulance shuttled Dana to the ER for x-rays. No broken bones but a mighty swollen left knee. Superintendent Kenny Austin and Dr. Ray went with her to the hospital and helped her get back to Friona. We appreciate their help and concern.

Enjoyed attending the Monday luncheon the city had for the Duininck Co. workers winding up the Hwy 60 construction. Throughout the several months of construction the workers have been efficient and professional and cooperative. The city and city council held the luncheon in city council chambers to express appreciation to the work crew. The project should be completed by the end of October. According to a couple of the workers, several local guys have been daily onlookers during the weeks of construction. The crew recognized several vehicles they say visited every day.
