Ruben Uriegas Sr., 64, of Bovina died Thursday May 16, 2013 in Bovina. Rosary services were held Sunday May 19, 2013 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina. Mass of Christian Burial services were at 10:00 a.m. Monday May 20, 2013 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina with Rev. Anthony Swamy Aakula as celebrant. Burial followed in the Bovina Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.
Mr. Uriegas was born October 23, 1948 in San Antonio to Jesus and Elisa Reyes Uriegas. He married Justina Martinez on August 31, 1966 in Vernon, Texas. He was a devoted husband and father who loved music, especially the acoustic guitar. He was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina.
He is survived by his wife Justina of Bovina; three daughters, Grace Osterbauer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Angela Uriegas of Amarillo, and Nora Uriegas of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Ruben Uriegas Jr. of Canadian, Texas and Alfred Uriegas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three brothers, Jesus Uriegas of Houston, Joseph Uriegas of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Modesto Uriegas of San Antonio; two sisters, Janie Moreno of Mineral Wells and Suzie Morales of San Antonio; and 12 grandchildren.
